“The best workshop I have participated/attended...perfectly awesome..." - Tom
When did we become self-conscious of our voice? When did it become something that we judged as being ‘good’ or ‘bad’?
When the voice is allowed to move freely without judgment we experience a deep remembering of who we are. Finding our voice becomes a technique to remember the self that existed before cultural conditioning, habitual patterns and expectations of what ‘should’ be.
Connecting to our true voice is not about creating a ‘perfect’ sound. It is about remembering and returning home, and to listen again to a deeply rooted part of ourselves.
This workshop is a return to primal sound, a clearing of your vessel as the instrument for your unique voice to be heard. We will explore what it means to let go of control of the mind, to fully trust ourselves and enter a place of honesty with ourselves and our voices.
We start by creating a fertile ground and safe container through a series of vocal exercises and techniques that
"A safe and empowering space to free your voice and spirit. Connecting to transcendental energies and opening up a cosmic portal to the divine in a playful, meditative and heart expanding way. " - Kyle
As the body shakes off tension and uncloaks stress, we discover the moment ripens to embark on a ritual: Vocalising your shadow, entering into trance states ...
the veil between this world and the next begins to thin....
As the journey deepens we open to the possibility of encountering archetypal energies, deities, figures, spirits, and beyond.
Ancestral voices and ancient beings that have been called upon throughout time to assist those who take the leap of faith and enter into the otherworld.
What is needed may not be what is considered beautiful.
It may be discordant and difficult to listen to.
The disjointed, atonal.
The wild wail, the howl and scream
Sometimes these sounds are those with most power.
Sometimes these sounds are what the heart most calls out for.
Sometimes these are woven into music, into song
a genuine encounter with your soul
and transmutation of your world.

“I ventured with Bethan and Katya on their Wild Voice workshop and came out feeling exhilarated, connected, and deeply at peace with myself and others. They took us on a deeply integrative and explorative adventure with our bodies, hearts, and souls, which was both personal and collective. In the few hours we had, a tribe was created and the communal sound experience taken to a level I’d never experienced before, which felt out of this world.” - Carly
“How in 3 hours it was possible to ignite the group members, so that they sang with their natural voices, or, with the voice of their soul, is a puzzle for the mind, but after the first half of the workshop, everyone, even those who sang for the first time in public, sang as though they could be brave enough to go on stage. And this is due to the merit of the facilitators - Katya and Bethan. They very quickly taught the group: 1) listen to your voice, i.e. yourself and at the same time hear others, 2) sound throughout the space of the room and find your own ways to sound, 3) remove restrictions and blocks when you play with the voice, 4) support other participants in their voice self-expression.
For me, this workshop was about the voice, but also about life, connecting with people, the social conditioning of the mind and full acceptance with the heart.” - Alexander
About your facilitator
From Theology and Religious Studies at Cambridge to living with the Pataxo indigenous tribe in Brazil, Bethan has been exploring the channeling of voice on and off stage since her childhood in Wales.
Her work is inspired by her native tradition, where the bards and druids would go into 'Awen', a trance that allowed them to connect to the other world and bring back knowledge for the benefit of their people. Her exploration has included training as a classical singer and learning with both shamans, masters, and the wordless ancient teachings of the natural world. Her most recent retreat was a month in solitude with only her voice overlooking the sacred Island Ynys Enlli.
She has worked as a composer, television presenter, and performer, and is currently involved in 3 projects, Solo: Bethan Lloyd and two duos Ystlum Gwyn and Ugly Object.
