Have you been considering buying or making your own ceremony drum?
Making your own ceremony drum is an incredibly deep and powerful practice, connecting you with the spirit of the animal and your own unique prayer, which you will infuse into its creation.
This practical, hands-on workshop is entirely interwoven with ceremony to support the profound creation of deeply personal drums, infused with individual song, character and prayer, crafted from hand prepared, ethically and locally sourced materials.
We are grateful to Dorrie Joy for coming to London to share her practice with us. Dorrie is an internationally celebrated artist and creator of traditional sacred craft.
She brings a wonderful combination of:
- Sacred space
- Lakota lineage
- Practical tuition
- Elemental ceremony of thanks and honour.
- Ethically and locally sourced materials from south west uk.
She is renowned for her work in this field and comes highly recommended by both leading contemporary shamanic teachers and practitioners, and elders and leaders in her lineage (of the Lakota Tribe) and others.
She made her first deerskin drum aged 15, has been holding drum making workshops in this design for 13 years. Her love of drums, and her love of working with people in this way, is as warm and wide as her smile.
This will be her first group workshop in London!
Places are limited to 16.
We will be working with 16” deerskin drums, but also available by prior arrangement are 14” and 18” frames, there is also an option of white Sami reindeer skin. All skins are ethically and locally sourced.
Because so much of the work involved is in the preparation of materials, it is important that you book with a deposit of £150.
Full price includes a hand steamed drum frame of oak or ash, a beautifully prepared animal skin, with lacing, tension ring, buckskin leather and feathers, all tuition and guidance for the day.
Bring snacks and water, lunch can be purchased at the nearby cafe during the break.
It will be a long and enjoyable day, come comfortable, ready and prepared!
You are welcome to bring a flat crystal to make the centrepiece of the handle of your drum.
