Permaculture and African Yoga
- Thu 25th Apr 2019, 7pm – 10pm
- The Psychedelic Society, Mackintosh Lane, London, UK
- Facebook event
Darren Springer (Shroomshop) and Sanae Orchi combine the philosophy of permaculture with the ancient wisdom of African yoga, presenting a holistic view on how to live sustainably, and in harmony with both your body and the earth.
Permaculture and African yoga share a focus on the interconnectedness of all things. Their guiding principles work with the same geometric patterns and shapes, and aim to build connections between lower and higher consciousness.
The word 'permaculture' comes from 'permanent agriculture' and 'permanent culture'. It is about living in a sustainable way human activities for many generations to come, in harmony with nature.
During this workshop we will enquire into the existing permaculture principles in our lives, and what we can do to increase our positive impact on the planet. We will then experiment and play with several permaculture tools and techniques that support you in discovering the patterns, cycles and universal laws that create and shape your reality.
African Yoga: Movements, Postures, Breathing and the Philosophy of Practice.
The geometric positions and postures seen in the hieroglyphs and temple walls of Ancient Egypt are some of the earliest manifestations of yoga. We will cover the Ancient Kemetic postures along with breathwork and meditation techniques that enhance one’s practice and daily lifestyle.
Our intention is not just to stretch the muscles or strengthen the body but also to move energy very precisely, releasing resistance in the body and the mind. In this relaxed state there is rejuvenation and healing on all levels.

Sanae Orchi is a Dutch/Moroccan TV presenter, public speaker and teacher of Ancient African Yoga (Smai Tawi). After graduating as an economist it was media that took her attention. For years she presented many tv programs and became a well-known TV personality.
_‘On the surface everybody thought I had it all because I was popular, but deep down I felt empty.’ _
She went through a series of challenging experiences and life questions. Sanae’s journey has led her to studying and sharing both modern and ancient spiritual practices. She is now sharing this knowledge and her experiences in an ‘urban’ way for others, especially the young generation to experience self realisation for themselves.
