‘Every thought, every word has its form. Sound alone is free from form.’ - Inayat Khan

Wild voice is returning to the psychedelic society for a two day intensive weekend workshop. This will allow us to journey even deeper into discovering our own unique sound both individually and as a group.

“The best workshop I have participated/attended...perfectly awesome..." - Tom“Really nourishing experience. I came away so energised and purposeful for life.....wild voice unleashed my lion. Thank you.” - Andrew

"A safe and empowering space to free your voice and spirit. Connecting to transcendental energies and opening up a cosmic portal to the divine in a playful, meditative and heart expanding way. " - Kyle

When the voice is allowed to move freely without judgement, what is experienced is a deep remembering of self. The self that existed before the conditioning, before the habitual patterns and limitations and expectations of what ‘should’ be. Connecting to your true voice is not about creating a ‘pretty’ sound. It is to remember, and to begin to listen again to a deeply rooted part of yourself.

This workshop is a return to primal sound, a clearing of your vessel as an instrument. We will explore what it means to let go of mind, to fully trust ourselves and our voices and allow ourselves to be seen and heard.

We will begin the weekend on Saturday with more focus on de-armouring, movement, opening our voices and tuning into each other's voices as a group through improvised voice play and ritual.

Sunday will focus on learning polyphonic singing, the placement of the voice inside our bodies, and different releasing techniques through breath and sound. The workshops can be fairly dynamic physically, however we try and accommodate to the needs of the group as best we can so if you have any queries about the work we will be doing please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions.

There is limited capacity to 18 places for the weekend and we ask participants to be available for the full two days from 11am-4pm. This is important in holding and respecting the energy and work of the group. If you are uncertain if you will be able to commit to the full two days and would like to attend please send us a message and we will see if its possible to accommodate you.

** Please note late comers will not be permitted. If you arrive later than 11:20 you will not be let in**
** Lunch will be provided**

We start by creating a fertile ground;

a series of vocal exercises and techniques that

de-armour, liberate, and unleash.

As the body shakes off tension and uncloaks stress,

we discover the moment ripens to embark on a ritual:

Vocalising your shadow, entering into trance states

the veil between this world and the next begins to thin....

As the journey deepens we open to the possibility of encountering archetypal energies,

deities, figures, spirits, and beyond.

Ancestral voices and ancient beings that have been called upon throughout time to assist those who dare to tap into the other worlds.

What is needed may not be what is considered beautiful.

it may be discordant and difficult to listen to.

The disjointed, atonal.

The wild wail, the howl and scream

Sometimes these sounds are those with most power.

Sometimes these sounds are what the heart most calls out for.

Sometimes these are woven into music, into song

and a genuine encounter with your soul

and transmutation of your world.

“I ventured with Bethan and Katya on their Wild Voice workshop and came out feeling exhilarated, connected, and deeply at peace with myself and others. Although we had a large group, they held the space really well and took us on a deeply integrative and explorative adventure with our bodies, hearts, and souls, which was both personal and collective. I felt free to release whatever was needed to become really at one with my voice, which was enabled by their playful, intimate and respectful approach to group work. In the few hours we had, a tribe was created and the communal sound experience taken to a level I’d never experienced before, which felt out of this world. I can’t wait for the next workshop” - Carly

What to expect?

When connecting to the body through conscious movement we can identify the places where we may be holding tension, potentially causing a resistance to the free flow of the voice. There will be a range of guided exercises and massage techniques to prepare the body for singing.

  • Vocal and movement de-armouring warm ups, for example:
  • Partnered sound toning
  • Grotowski inspired vocal and physical play
  • Tension release through bodywork
  • Sigil chant creation - devising magical sound symbols to evoke our deepest desires in vocal expression
  • Holotropic breathwork and visualisation meditation
  • Harmonising and learning traditional folk songs
  • Deep visioning through our sound-body-journey through all the body parts to arrive at an integrated sound from our entire being

Once we are warmed up and de-armoured, stretched our intention through ritual, vocalised our shadows and integrated our sound-body, our vessel is clear and we can open up to otherworldly inspiration. We may be working with deities, visioning and storytelling in order to enter into the realm of the subconscious allowing sound to move through us.

About your facilitators,

Bethan Lloyd

From Theology and Religious Studies at Cambridge to living with the Pataxo indigenous tribe in Brazil, Bethan has been exploring the channelling of voice on and off stage since her childhood in Wales.

Her work is inspired by her native tradition, where the bards and druids would go into 'Awen', a trance that allowed them to connect to the other world and bring back knowledge for the benefit of their people. Her exploration has included training as a classical singer and learning with both shamans, masters, and the wordless ancient teachings of the natural world. Her most recent retreat was a month in solitude with only her voice overlooking the sacred Island Ynys Enlli.

She has worked as a composer, television presenter and performer, and is currently involved in 3 projects, Solo : Bruxa Cosa and two duos Ystlum Gwyn and Ugly Object.

Katya Barton

After spending 6 months in 2016 in an old growth forest, Puszcza Bialowiezka in Poland, Katya found her re-connection to the land of her ancestors through the folk songs and stories of that place. Slavic folk songs are ‘myths with melodies’. Timeless, universal stories sung as a direct response to the environment of the people who were deeply rooted to their land. This remembering was the beginning of a continuously evolving journey of discovery into the power and wisdom held in these ancient songs and how they can guide us into remembering and discovering our own unique sound.
We invite you to discover, experience and play with your own unique vocal identity. To see your voice as the mirror of yourself in this present moment
