Help enable research into psychedelics for mental health

The Psychedelic Society is calling on the UK government to reschedule psilocybin, a compound that has been called a ‘breakthrough’ treatment for mental health. Recent trials using psilocybin to treat depression and anxiety have returned staggering results, with 80% of patients reporting improved wellbeing or life satisfaction for up to six months from just a single dose.

What is Psilocybin?

Psilocybin is a non-addictive, non-toxic compound found in hundreds of species of mushrooms. It has been used by humans for thousands of years to maintain good mental and social health.

Recent studies suggest psilocybin could alleviate common mental health issues better than any available treatment. However, it was outlawed in 2005, making it unavailable to those who need it.

We believe that the conscious use of psychedelics can help us create a more compassionate and joyful world through the healing and growth of the individual.

Psychedelics have been used by humans for tens of thousands of years for healing and spiritual development. After decades of misinformation, and outlawing on political as opposed to scientific grounds, the potential of these substances is starting to be recognised again. We exist to reinstate the public understanding of and access to psychedelics in the UK and beyond.

New to psychedelics?

Psychedelics (from the Greek psyche: mind, delos: make visible, reveal) are substances that induce a heightened state of consciousness characterised by a hyperconnected brain state. Studies suggest psychedelics could be a breakthrough therapy for mental health issues including depression, anxiety, addiction, OCD, and PTSD through their ability to work on a deep emotional as well as biological level.
